Hey, they are surfbands!
Be sure to check with the band
before attending!!!
Friends and surf music fans ‹
I¹ll be a busy boy this coming SUNDAY, JUNE 1, starting off early with the
SURFARIS in the BALBOA ISLAND PARADE, then heading up the coast to play in
the afternoon at the HUNTINGTON BEACH PIER with the DUO-TONES + 2.
11 AM: Once again The Surfaris will be playing in the annual Balboa Island
parade! Come early for a good spot: follow Jamboree to the bay, then walk
across the bridge onto the island. We'll come riding by playing "Wipeout"
and other tunes...
3 PM: Gil & I will be backed by Dusty Watson on drums and Ron Eglit on bass
for a killer set during an all day event (to benefit the Huntington Beach
Surf Museum); several other surf bands will be playing too, so come early to
hear the full array:
11 AM ‹ Glasgow Tiki Shakers
12 AM ‹ Slacktone
1 PM ‹ Reventlos
2 PM ‹ Outer Wave
3 PM ‹ Duotones + 2
4 PM ‹ Torquays

THE MADEIRA
Here we go – our second full-length album, Carpe Noctem, will be officially released on Tuesday, May 27th!
It will be initially available exclusively through Double Crown Records ( http://dblcrown.com), and soon after you'll be able to find it pretty much everywhere. It's taken a lot of hard work to get this CD out and we very much hope you will like what you hear – we love it!
We also launched our new website at http://themadeira.net - check it out. At the moment it looks very similar to our old one, but it's got a lot more bells and whistles that we will take advantage of in the future. The best thing is that there is new content: two new downloadable songs from Carpe Noctem, great photos from our March Indy show, a new t-shirt available for purchase, and complete information for all of our upcoming summer shows (plus some nifty fliers!).
Speaking of shows, our East Coast trek will include stops in Washington D.C., Asbury Park, NJ and New York, NY, joined by some of the finest surf bands around today. It's our first time playing on the East Coast, and we can't wait. The bonus for those that come to the gigs is that we expect to have advance copies of Carpe Noctem available for sale – you can be among the first people in the world to have the new Madeira CD! We will have an Indy CD release show in late June, and then return to SoCal for a whirlwind tour in early August. Lots of activity ahead (by our standards, anyway!), and we sincerely hope to see many of you during all these travels.
-Ivan

LA area friends and guitar music fans ‹
There are two very different opportunities to catch the Duo-tones this
coming week...
WEDNESDAY, July 25, 7-10 PM ‹ it¹s the DUO-TONES+2 at the BAJA CANTINA (311
Washington Blvd., in the Marina Del Rey/Venice area) ... this is a rare
opportunity to hear Gil & I play with some EXTRA POWER behind us. And it
just doesn't get any more powerful than these guys... backing us will be
DICK DALE¹S former rhythm section ‹ RON EGLIT on bass, and the phenomenal
DUSTY WATSON on drums. (Ron will also play some guitar as well...) THIS may
well be the ULTIMATE surf band! ... there¹s no cover charge; we¹ll serenade
you as loll around in the patio sipping margaritas and chowing down some
great Mexican food. (www.bajacantinavenice.com)
SATURDAY, July 28, 7 PM just the two of us, back in our more traditional
mode at our old favorite, the COFFEE GALLERY BACKSTAGE in Altadena (2029
Lake Street, about 2 miles north of the 210 Fwy). It'll be a full program
featuring both acoustic and electric guitars. Make reservations NOW, as our
shows here often sell out (only 50 seats available in this intimate
venue...) But every seat is up close and personal and the sound is great
too, making the CGB is the IDEAL venue for the Duo-tones. Tix are $18 ...
